Discarded equipment from fisheries
Nofir has established a system for collecting discarded equipment from the fishing industry around Europe. We're looking for:
- gill nets
- purse seine nets
- trawls
- ropes
- other fractions
Most of material collected by Nofir is sending to recycling factory in Slovenia. If you have any equipment, please contact us for further information. This is far easier than you think!
Nofir is collecting fish farming nets all over Europe. We collect both from fish farming companies and service stations.If you want us to collect your fish farming nets, it is important that the nets are washed and disinfected. Please contact us if you have further questions and/or nets you want us to collect.
Nofir is also collecting from waste companies strategically located on the coast of Norway. For those who do not have enough discarded material to fill a truck, please contact your nearest waste company. See also map with our partners.

Nofir was founded in 2008 with the purpose of establishing a nationwide system for collecting discarded equipment in Norway. 15 000 tons of plastic equipment from the fishing and fish farming industry is discarded each year in Norway alone. In 2012 Nofir were granted support from European Union through the Eco Innovaton scheme. Since then we have collected material all over Europe.
